BELGRADE, Serbia: Serbian dental supply company Plast-DENT recently teamed up with Planmeca to organise a digital solutions seminar in Belgrade. Held in conjunction with the celebration of Finland’s 100 years of independence and hosted at the Embassy of Finland, the event was attended by more than 60 Serbian dental professionals and guests to learn more about the advantages of digital dentistry and to familiarise themselves with Planmeca’s technology.

The seminar opened with a speech by the Finnish Ambassador to Serbia, Pertti Ikonen, who covered a variety of topics, including the significance of international cooperation, especially in the field of health care technology. After Ikonen’s introduction, Jouko Nykänen, Vice President of Sales at Planmeca, presented the company’s wide range of digital dentistry solutions and its pioneering digital workflow concept, which is built around the Planmeca Romexis all-in-one software. Nykänen underscored Planmeca’s strong commitment to R & D and emphasised the sentiments of Ikonen regarding the importance of collaboration with health care professionals and universities for innovative technology and product development. He particularly highlighted one of the company’s latest products, the Planmeca Viso CBCT unit, and its unique patient positioning, free field of view adjustments and intelligent patient movement correction.

Concluding the day’s events, the benefits of 3-D imaging in diagnostics were showcased with reference to clinical cases and studies. With plenty of interest in the new diagnostic system, a hands-on CAD/CAM session for the Serbian dentists using the new Planmeca Emerald intra-oral scanner was given at the end of the presentation. Weighing just 183 g, the extremely light device was unveiled at the 37th International Dental Show, held in March.
